Celtic Sleep Out comes to Paradise for the sixth time

Following the huge success of our inaugural event in Sligo on November 6 where over £15K was raised, Celtic FC Foundation welcomed supporters to Celtic Park, for the sixth Celtic Sleep Out in Paradise, as over 100 generous fundraisers joined us on Saturday, November 13.

Through their efforts, the group are on course to raise a fantastic total in the region of £45K and this will be devoted to the Christmas Appeal phase of our Football for Good Fund.

Our Sleep Out events in Sligo, Glasgow and London play an integral part of the Appeal, with each of our participants having committed to raising a minimum of £130/€150 towards the Appeal.

If you would like to continue to support the Celtic Sleep Out, Glasgow team, there’s still time to donate online HERE.

The atmosphere was a beautiful mixture of excitement, trepidation and pride as supporters arrived at the stadium at 9.00pm with their sleeping bags and supplies in hand. After registration and a welcome from the Foundation team, participants heard from manager, Ange Postecoglou, as they watched our 2021 Christmas Appeal VT.

Ahead of embarking on the challenge of spending the night trackside, from 10.00pm to 6.00am, under the stars at Paradise, the 100+ participants then made their way down to the South Stand for the obligatory Sleep Out group photo.

And there was a surprise just before kick-off, as recently announced Celtic FC Foundation Ambassadors, Tony Curran and Gianni Capaldi paid a visit to wish our fundraisers well. The Scottish acting duo generously took time out to join our participants trackside for conversation and selfies.

And Tony even stayed for the duration and completed the Sleep Out. We are very grateful to both Ambassadors for their wonderful support.

As 6.00am approached the group began packing up after a long, cold night and participants were offered the opportunity to donate their sleeping mats and bags. The response was once again outstanding and the contributions made to The Invisibles and The Wayside Club, will make a huge difference for many sleeping rough, on the streets of our city.

The event was rounded off with a warm breakfast in the Jock Stein Lounge as participants gathered together to say their goodbyes to some old and new friends.

Celtic FC Foundation would like to thank each and every Celtic Sleep Out participant for their incredible efforts, as well as everyone who supported them along the way. You have made a genuine difference to those in our community, who are most in need.

Our next Celtic Sleep Out in London, will take place for the fourth time in the grounds of St Anne’s Primary School in Whitechapel. The venue holds huge historical and emotional significance for the Celtic Family as in 1892, five years after his leading role in the formation of Celtic Football Club, the Marist Order moved Brother Walfrid from Glasgow to the Whitechapel area of London’s East End.

Just like their Sligo and Glasgow counterparts, participants will brave the cold on Friday, December 3, raising a minimum of £130 each. There’s still time to sign up HERE and proceeds will support the Christmas Appeal.

We want to give hundreds of families in our communities the Christmas they deserve, making sure there’s food on the table and gifts under the tree.

We also wish to help pensioners, women and children in refuge, the homeless community and refugees – as well as a whole host of others facing poverty and hardship.

Charity, and the generosity and compassion of the Celtic family, will always be our past, present and future – it’s our heritage, our responsibility, our lifeblood.

Thank you for joining Celtic FC Foundation in making a difference this Christmas – it’s our reason for being.
