Success of Celtic FC Foundation’s Annual Badge Day

AS the curtain fell on the 2015/16 SPFL season and the Hoops recorded a resounding 7-0 victory, there was also considerable success off the pitch as Celtic FC Foundation’s Annual Badge Day recorded a tremendous total in the region of £15K.

With the sun shining on Paradise, over 100 volunteers kindly gave up their time to collect on our behalf, and the Celtic support responded with typical generosity as fans eagerly and enthusiastically bought badges from sellers around the ground.

Earlier this year, Celtic FC Foundation announced a competition opened to supporters between the ages of seven and 16, and the winning entry was created by Marc McQuillan, aged 11, from Tallaght in Ireland.

Marc’s carefully crafted concept underlines the importance of football, and reminds us that Celtic FC Foundation are committed to keeping the club’s charitable heritage in safe hands.

Net proceeds will support Celtic FC Foundation’s ongoing projects around our four key themes of improving Health, promoting Equality, encouraging Learning and tackling Poverty.

Speaking on the success of Badge Day, Celtic FC Foundation CEO, Tony Hamilton, said: “I’d like to commend all of our volunteers for their dedication and effort in ensuring our Badge Day was a phenomenal success.

“Additionally, our Supporters’ Committee play an integral role in steering and planning this event, and we are truly grateful for their valuable input.

“At Celtic FC Foundation, we are continually humbled by the exceptional backing that we receive from our supporters, and I’d like to sincerely thank everyone who bought and proudly wore a badge on Sunday.”
