Neil Lennon back in the Hoops for Jock Stein Charity Match

AS the Celtic Legends’ squad for the Jock Stein Charity Match – sponsored by Direct Slating Supplies – gradually takes shape, Celtic FC Foundation and the Pars Foundation are delighted to announce former Celtic manager Neil Lennon as the latest name to pledge his involvement.

September’s match at East End Park will mark something of a reunion for Neil Lennon and the Hoops faithful, as the former No.18 returns to the Celtic fold for the first time since his departure as manager in June, 2014.

A lifelong Celtic fan signed by Martin O’Neill in 2001, Neil Lennon went on to be a legendary figure in the Hoops. As well as being a crucial part of the team that went all the way to the UEFA Cup final in 2003, he won every domestic honour before eventually becoming club captain under Gordon Strachan.

Taking over as manager in 2010, Neil Lennon achieved a remarkable three-in-a-row and added two Scottish Cups to his impressive list of accolades.

Alongside Lennon, will be a host of former Celtic stars featuring the likes of Tom Boyd, Stiliyan Petrov and Alan Stubbs as well as celebrities including James McAvoy and Martin Compston.

The Jock Stein Charity Match takes place on Sunday, September 6 at East End Park. The occasion will see a squad of Celtic Legends squaring off against their counterparts from Dunfermline Athletic to commemorate the 30th anniversary passing of the legend of all legends, Jock Stein.
