Marc makes his mark for Celtic FC Foundation’s Badge Day

WITH anticipation building ahead of Celtic’s final home game of the season, Celtic FC Foundation are delighted to unveil this year’s charity badge design.

Organised in association with our Supporters’ Committee, Badge Day will take place pre-match against Motherwell (KO 12:30pm) on Sunday, May 15, and we are asking supporters to make a minimum donation of £2 in return for this new and unique charity badge.

This year, Celtic FC Foundation launched a competition for children and young people between the ages of seven and 16 to design a badge inspired by their vision of Celtic, charity and football.

Following a review of all the designs, the winning entrant was Marc McQuillan, aged 11, from Tallaght, Republic of Ireland.

Marc’s intricate and imaginative design shows a series of circles, with traditional Celtic colours, and hands guarding a football. This concept seeks to reiterate the importance of the game, and reminds us that Celtic FC Foundation are committed to keeping the club’s charitable heritage in safe hands.

Marc was at Lennoxtown recently to promote the badge with Celtic defender Erik Sviatchenko, and the Danish stopper was quick to point out his own fondness for the design.

Erik said: “I think the badge looks fantastic, and congratulations to Marc for such an inventive and stunning design. I submitted my own effort in March and I can tell you it’s not as easy as it looks!

“Marc has done an excellent job and, given the famous generosity of the Celtic Family, I’m sure Badge Day will be a tremendous success.”

Celtic FC Foundation CEO, Tony Hamilton, added: “Marc’s eye-catching concept perfectly captures our ethos as well as underlining the Foundation’s core values. I can’t thank Marc enough for working so hard to reflect and support our work in local communities.

“At home and abroad, we are working hard to continue to create opportunities and offer support for the most marginalised and disadvantaged children, young people and adults.

“Simply put, initiatives like Badge Day will go a long way towards this and I would like to thank the Celtic supporters for getting behind us, as they always do.”

We are currently looking for around 120 volunteers to be in place at all turnstile areas and, as a small token of our appreciation, each individual will be provided with a complimentary match ticket.
