MAGNERS’Goals for Charity initiative has smashed through the £10k barrier. The impressive figure was reached following Neil Lennon’s men notching four goals against Kilmarnock on Wednesday, January 28 and the Celtic players show no sign of letting up with their scoring continuing in recent weeks taking their total of competitive goals for the season to 71.
And top scorer, Kris Commons, who has netted an impressive 22 goals so far this season, was at Lennoxtown to celebrate this impressive £10k milestone for the Goals for Charity initiative.
Magners, main sponsor of Celtic, have thrown their backing behind Celtic FC Foundation by vowing to donate £150 for every goal that Celtic score during the 2013/14 season.
The pledge will see Magners donate a significant figure at the end of the season if the Hoops can keep up their magnificent goal-scoring form of late.
With every goal counting, the initiative will not only be of huge benefit to the charitable arm of the football club but also act as extra incentive for the team and fans to push for more goals, no matter the score.
Paul Condron, Marketing Director for Magners, said: “Our sponsorship commitment to the club involves working together in a number of areas – from support of the team and fans to the good work of Celtic FC Foundation.
‘It’s great to see that the team’s impressive goal scoring form has already raised more than £10,000 for the many deserving causes that the Foundation supports.
‘With almost a third of the season remaining, our hope is that continuing on field success benefits the Foundation as much as possible.”
Tony Hamilton, CEO of Celtic FC Foundation, said: “This is fantastic generosity again from Magners. The work Celtic FC Foundation is doing in the local community and further afield will benefit greatly from this.
‘We are delighted with this venture from Magners and to already be through the £10,000 mark is absolutely phenomenal.”
