Ghirls tackle Tough Mudder for Celtic FC Foundation

FIVE strong, brave, courageous, gutsy, bold and fearless Ghirls have taken on this year’s Tough Mudder challenge, to raise funds for Celtic FC Foundation.

It will take place this Saturday, June 25 and consist of a 12-mile long extreme assault course – complete with 500,000 litres of mud and 20 exceptionally tough, world-class obstacles. It is designed to test mental grit, camaraderie and all-around physical fitness. Not one for the feint hearted, this is a massive challenge.

Team Muddy Hoops consists of four Celtic staff and one member of the Celtic FC Foundation squad. They are:

(Louisa) Bold Benaouicha

(Gillian) Gritty Gallacher

(Summer) Hardy Harl

(Kerry) Killer Keenan

(Sionadh) Kick Ass Kellington

The fantastic five have gained sensational support and respect from their colleagues, friends and families and it would be magnificent if the wider Celtic support could also get behind them.

Celtic FC Foundation’s four priorities are to improve Health, promote Equality, encourage Learning and tackle Poverty. Funds raised by the Ghirls will support delivery of our local projects for disadvantaged children, young people and adults.

Tony Hamilton said: “What these Ghirls are doing is just incredible. Almost makes a Bhoy feel…inferior. They’re braver than I would ever claim to be and they have my total respect.

“The fact that they have chosen to raise funds to support our work at the Foundation is phenomenal and we are hugely grateful to them.”

Team Muddy Hoops added: “It seemed like a good idea when we signed up! Training hasn’t quite gone according to plan but we will give it our best shot. No quitters here so we will start and finish as a team.

“We know it’s going to be the greatest endurance test we’ve ever faced but our Celtic Pride will see us through! Less than a week to go now and reality is setting in so any donations supporters can spare would be invaluable.

“We are delighted to be supporting Celtic FC Foundation as they represent the charitable heart of our club. We are proud of the work they do to help others on behalf of the Celtic Family.

“Bring it on – we look forward to leading the green and white on the day!”
