Foundation’s Christmas Appeal supporting Glasgow City mission

  • CELTIC FC Foundation’s Christmas Appeal is underway and as part of our 2015 campaign, we’ll be taking a closer look at the charities benefitting from your generosity this festive season.

First in this spotlight series, we look at the work of poverty and homelessness charity, Glasgow City Mission.

Established in 1826, Glasgow City Mission offers a safe refuge for those afflicted by homelessness and poverty. As well as providing an evening drop-in service, Glasgow City Mission also provide daytime activities and one-to-one support for the impoverished, vulnerable and destitute.

On Celtic FC Foundation’s support, Glasgow City Mission Fundraising and Marketing Manager, Graham Steven, said: “We are delighted to have the continued support of Celtic FC Foundation this Christmas.

“The Foundation has pledged to support our evening drop-in service which provides a hot meal and practical advice to over 130 homeless and vulnerable people each weekday evening.

“As well as a hot meal in safe, warm surroundings, the drop-in service provides a springboard into our holistic programme of daytime activities designed to tackle the root causes and help people move forwards once again.

“We’d like to thank Celtic FC Foundation, fans and all connected with the club for their longstanding support of Glasgow City Mission and people battling homelessness in Glasgow.”

Glasgow City Mission is just one of the charities we will be supporting through this year’s Christmas Appeal, along with around 200 local families facing poverty and hardship – to provide a meal on the table and gifts for their children.

In the coming weeks, we will highlight each of the beneficiary charities and the incredible difference your support will make.

Please follow the Celtic Way to help us give back this Christmas.
