Fans set to walk on fire for Celtic FC Foundation

CELTIC supporters, Dannika Drain of South Ayrshire, and Derek and Kathleen Noonan of Edinburgh, have shared a variety of amazing experiences while supporting and fundraising on behalf of Celtic FC Foundation in the past, but now they’re all set to take on a new challenge.

On Friday, February 23, they will be sharing another unforgettable experience, as they get set to walk on hot coals, to raise money for Celtic FC Foundation, in our brand new fundraising event ‘WALK ON Fire’.

‘WALK ON Fire’, which will take place adjacent to the Celtic Way, in front of the South Stand at Celtic Park, will see supporters take on a 12-foot walk over hot coals reaching temperatures exceeding 1,000 degrees Celsius.

The trio spoke of their previous experiences with Celtic FC Foundation and their anticipation ahead of this exciting new event.

Dannika said: I’ve always supported the club and I feel that the charitable aspect really goes hand-in-hand. Through my involvement with Celtic FC Foundation, I’ve travelled to Malawi, climbed Ben Nevis and helped out at various bucket collections.

“I think the ‘WALK ON Fire’ event offers something completely different to anything I’ve done previously. It’s a unique opportunity. I wasn’t aware of anyone who had done it before so I was really intrigued. I was keen to just get signed up and raise as much money for the Foundation as I could.”

Derek said: “Kathleen and I became involved with Celtic FC Foundation when we decided to take part in the Kenya trip a few years back. Since then we’ve also gone to Malawi with the Foundation, as well as taken part in events such as the Ben Nevis Huddle, the Celtic Skydive and the Zip Slide in Paradise.

“The next step for us, literally, was walking on hot coals. It offers us another way of raising not only funds but also awareness of Celtic FC Foundation. There have been some great reactions when we’ve said that we’re doing it, most people have been a bit shocked.”

Kathleen added: “I love that Celtic FC Foundation gives people the chance to challenge themselves with events like this, while raising money in the process.

“For me, the great thing about Celtic FC Foundation is the wide span of the work that they do and the fact that they support so many people. Taking part in events like ‘WALK ON Fire’ allows us to do our bit to provide support.”

Speaking of the event itself, Dannika said:  “I’m a little nervous about it actually, as it’s something completely new to me but I’m really excited to see what it is like. As a lifelong Celtic fan, to be able to do it at Celtic Park too really adds to the excitement.”

Kathleen added: “We’re always up for trying something new and it’s great to be able to say you’ve done it at the end. With this event, we’re not only coming away with the experience of walking on fire but also with the positive mind-set encouraged during the seminar.”

Derek said: “There is, of course, a bit of trepidation about it but it’s going to be great fun. We’d walk over hot coals to see Celtic play, so why not go ahead and do it to raise money for Celtic FC Foundation?”
