Famine Memorial Shirt Auction

To once again recognise The Great Hunger, Celtic wore the National Famine Memorial Day logo on the Hoops when they took to the field on Saturday at Celtic Park.

One million people died in the tragedy between 1846 and 1850 and many more suffered in the most horrendous circumstances. Saturday’s match preceded the annual commemoration of the Famine, which this year took place on Sunday, September 11 at Glasnevin Cemetery in Dublin.

Celtic FC Foundation are delighted to confirm that seven of these match issue shirts – signed by each player – are now being auctioned, providing supporters with the opportunity to own a wonderful collectors’ item.

The shirts can be accessed here

– and the auction will close at around 7pm on Saturday, September 17, 2016 (bidders should check individual items for exact end times).

Funds raised will help support the work of Celtic FC Foundation as we strive to honour the charitable principles and heritage of Celtic Football Club.

We aim to respond to the needs of disadvantaged children, young people and adults in our local communities to improve Health, promote Equality, encourage Learning and tackle Poverty.

We have a track record of delivering successful, needs-led projects in the East End of Glasgow, across the city and also in Ireland, London and overseas.
