CELTIC stars today made a special visit to Glasgow’s Royal Children’s Hospital and delivered a special Christmas gift of £10,000 on behalf of Celtic FC Foundation.
Celtic has been a long-time supporter of Glasgow’s Children’s Hospital and is delighted to once again maintain its strong connection with such a fantastic institution.
The donation made to the Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity will fund enhanced equipment and services at the Royal Hospital for Children, to ensure that all the young patients receive the best possible care and experience.
From the latest medical equipment and research to family support services and innovative play programmes, all of the projects which the charity funds aim to enhance the care of the 168,000 babies, children and young people treated each year at the hospital.
Celtic Captain Scott Brown said: “We are delighted to once again visit the hospital and see the fantastic work being carried out by such great staff, in looking after so many children. This goes on all-year round and the hospital and its staff deserve huge praise for their tireless work and commitment to helping children in need.
Scott added, “We realise, too, that it can be so difficult for the kids and their families around the hospital at this time of year, so if our visit can in any way lift their spirits, then we are delighted to have helped in some way.”
Celtic Chief Executive Peter Lawwell added: “Everyone at Celtic is passionate about the connection we have with the Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity and we have joined forces for many years now, in working to help children who are most deserving of our support.
“The hospital and its work has been synonymous with the Club’s charitable vision for decades and we are delighted that our fundraising efforts have had such a positive impact.
“We hope our continued support will also raise awareness of the level of care needed by children and their families – not only at Christmas but throughout the year.”
Tony Hamilton, Chief Executive of Celtic FC Foundation, said: “We have supported Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity for many years now and we are both proud and delighted to continue this relationship through today’s donation.
“This is due entirely to those who have, as always, got behind our Christmas Appeal in great numbers and I have every faith this level of support will continue in the next few weeks. All those who support us are helping us to Share the Spirit of Celtic this Christmas with the most vulnerable in our community.”
