Celtic FC Foundation’s Christmas Appeal series: The Elpis Centre

CELTIC FC Foundation’s Christmas Appeal is in full flow and our spotlight series continues with a closer look at another of our charity beneficiaries, The Elpis Centre.

A small charity based in the Ruchill area of Glasgow, The Elpis Centre provide accommodation and support to young women aged 16-25 who have found themselves homeless or have been in care for varying periods of time.

With your help this Christmas, Celtic FC Foundation will be able to support The Elpis Centre with gifts and a Christmas meal, offering comfort and respite at a challenging time of year for vulnerable service users.

Speaking on the impact of the 2016 Christmas Appeal, The Elpis Centre’s Joanne Bradley, said: “Thanks to Celtic FC Foundation’s support, we can buy our service users a small gift and provide a Christmas meal.

“These young girls are predominantly care leavers or have been trafficked and many of them are estranged from their families. Thanks to you, young girls aged 16-25 – who would otherwise be alone – will feel that somebody cares about them this Christmas.  Thank you to all the Celtic fans who have helped make this possible!”

The Elpis Centre are just one of the groups we will be supporting through this year’s Christmas Appeal and those confirmed so far include Spirit Aid, Loaves and Fishes, Glasgow City Mission, the Scottish Refugee Council, the Wayside Centre, Glasgow East Women’s Aid, The Invisibles and Simon Community Scotland.

In addition, we want to help around 300+ local families facing poverty, to provide a meal on the table and gifts for the kids. We want to bring the magic of Christmas to those homes. We are also looking to help vulnerable local pensioners to ease the financial burden at a challenging time of year.

For the first time, we are proud to confirm a development of the Christmas Appeal in 2016 as we look to support charities in London, Newcastle, Dublin, Belfast, Oban, Greenock, Inverness, Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Fife and Ayrshire.

The generosity and compassion of the Celtic Family is unsurpassed, and Celtic FC Foundation is requesting your support once again for an initiative which proudly follows in the footsteps of Brother Walfrid, providing comfort to those who need it most.

So together, let’s raise more than the roof this Christmas.
