Celtic FC Foundation’s Appeal supports Scottish Refugee Council

CONTINUING with Celtic FC Foundation’s Christmas Appeal spotlight series, attention turns to another of our key beneficiaries, Scottish Refugee Council.

In recent times, distressing images emerging from the European humanitarian crisis underlined the need for urgent action.

Following proceeds from last September’s Jock Stein 30th Anniversary Charity Weekend, Celtic FC Foundation affirmed our commitment to helping refugees by donating £60,000 to the International Federation of the Red Cross, with monies used to co-ordinate an on the ground emergency humanitarian response.

Scottish Refugee Council are an independent charity who aim to protect and advocate the rights of refugees and asylum seekers in Scotland. This vital work includes providing essential information and assistance for refugees as well as raising awareness and campaigning for change.

This Christmas, Celtic FC Foundation are continuing this outreach by assisting Scottish Refugee Council and their ongoing efforts to help refugees and asylum seekers.

Speaking on Celtic FC Foundation’s support, Esther Muchena, Family Service Manager at Scottish Refugee Council, said: “Most refugees arrive in Scotland with little more than the clothes on their back.

“The welcome they receive here and the warmth and generosity shown by Scottish people, goes a long way to help refugee families find their feet and begin to recover from all they have been through.

“Thanks so much for showing you care about families in need and for making Scotland the welcoming country it is.”

Through this year’s Christmas Appeal, Celtic FC Foundation are aiming to help around 250 local families facing poverty and hardship, providing a meal on the table and gifts for the kids.

We want to bring the magic of Christmas to those homes, something they would not otherwise experience, however, we cannot do this without your support.

So together, let’s raise more than the roof this Christmas.
