CONTINUING with our Christmas Appeal series, Celtic FC Foundation looks at the work of poverty charity Glasgow City Mission.
Glasgow City Mission, one of Celtic FC Foundation€™s Christmas Appeal beneficiary charities, are an organisation committed to helping vulnerable adults and children who are disadvantaged and are often leading chaotic or difficult lives.
The services provided by Glasgow City Mission include emergency accommodation for the homeless, a dedicated Foodbank and an evening drop-in service that feeds those who are impoverished and in need of a proper meal.
Glasgow City Mission€™s Graham Steven said: €œGlasgow City Mission has been showing practical care to those trapped in poverty since 1826.
€œServing those who are homeless and marginalised, they feed an average of 130 men and women each evening.
€œBy understanding each person€™s individual needs, Glasgow City Mission connects people to their daytime activity programme.
€œAlmost 30 clubs and activities seek to rebuild confidence, self-esteem and develop practical, usable skills including helping people find suitable training or employment.€
He added: €œWe are extremely grateful to Celtic FC Foundation and Celtic supporters for their continued generosity.
€œTheir much-needed financial contributions make the work of Glasgow City Mission possible. In particular, by funding our Older Men€™s lunch club, you are providing a safe space for people to come and enjoy lunch and social companionship.
€œLoneliness and isolation are significant factors in many of our clients€™ lives €“ you are helping to turn that around, improving lives and strengthening communities €“ thank you!€
