Celtic FC Foundation backing Glasgow City Mission this Christmas

LAST Thursday, Celtic FC Foundation’s Christmas Appeal got off to a flying start following a generous £10,000 donation from the club.

Now, as the Christmas Appeal begins to take shape, attention turns to our 2016 partner charities as we steadily reveal the worthy causes benefiting from your generosity this festive season.

Our spotlight series begins with poverty and homelessness charity, Glasgow City Mission.

Founded in 1826, Glasgow City Mission provide a safe space, offering a variety of respite services for those afflicted by homelessness and poverty.

This includes one-to-one counselling support and a foodbank service, as well as a range of positive community initiatives helping people change their lives for the better.

Speaking on Celtic FC Foundation’s Christmas Appeal, Glasgow City Mission’s Graham Steven, said: “Glasgow City Mission are delighted to have the continued support of Celtic fans and Celtic FC Foundation in tackling homelessness and poverty here in Glasgow.

“Our city continues to see large numbers of people who are hungry and struggling. The money raised by the dedication of all connected to the club will allow us to provide food and support to vulnerable people in our city and tackle many of the root causes.

“Above all, it will demonstrate our compassion and for this we are most thankful.”

Through this year’s Christmas Appeal, Celtic FC Foundation are aiming to help around 250 local families facing poverty and hardship, providing a meal on the table and gifts for the kids.

We want to bring the magic of Christmas to those homes, something they would not otherwise experience, however, we cannot do this without your support.

So together, let’s raise more than the roof this Christmas.
