BT Sport support for Celtic FC Foundation’s annual dinner

CELTIC FC Foundation are delighted to confirm BT Sport’s very generous support of our 2014 Sporting Dinner.

This has been a flagship initiative in the
charity calendar for over 15 years and the 2014 event will take place on
Thursday, March 27 in the Kerrydale Suite, here at Celtic Park.

Attended
by Neil Lennon and members of the first-team squad, it will be an evening of
top-class entertainment, with host Paul Cooney, after-dinner speakers Willie
Allan and Peter Brown, an auction and raffle hosted by Andy Cameron, silent
auction and fantastic four-course meal.

Tony Hamilton, CEO of Celtic FC
Foundation, said: “The annual Sporting Dinner has been our long standing,
flagship initiative since inception of the charity and I would like to take this
opportunity to thank BT Sport for their fantastic and invaluable support of our
2014 event.

‘Their significant financial contribution, coupled with
outstanding public profile, will have a substantial impact on the success of our
dinner.”

A BT spokesperson said, “BT Sport is thrilled to deepen its
long-standing association with Celtic FC Foundation to support its 2014 Sporting
Dinner in March.

‘Like the Foundation, BT Sport is committed to
harnessing the power of sport to benefit fans, viewers and the wider
public.’

We are exceptionally conscious of the continued challenges of
the financial climate so the cost of the event has been held at the same level
for the seventh year in a row – £800 for a table of ten or £80pp.

Celtic
Charity recently joined forces with the Celtic Foundation and the charity is now
known as Celtic FC Foundation. This means our enhanced remit includes direct
delivery of social projects in our local communities.

The main
beneficiary of the 2014 dinner will be our ‘Ability Counts’ project. Operating
since 2011, this successful partnership programme between Celtic FC Foundation
and Down’s Syndrome Scotland uses the power of dance and football coaching to
engage with children and young people with Down’s Syndrome.

‘Ability
Counts’ received European recognition by winning the European Club Association’s
´Best Community and Social Responsibility Project Award 2011´.

It also
won the ´People’s Choice ´Heart and Soul´ Award´ at the 2012 Scottish Charity
Awards.
