Ben Nevis Huddle is a great success for Celtic FC Foundation

WHILE many of us enjoyed a relaxing day in the sun on Saturday, a wonderful group of supporters scaled Ben Nevis in near 30-degree Celsius heat to perform a Huddle at the summit – all to get behind the work of Celtic FC Foundation.

Participants had each committed to raising a minimum of £130 to take part in the event. Fundraising is still ongoing but, to date, a magnificent total in excess of £10,000 has already been reached.

This was Celtic FC Foundation’s fourth Ben Nevis Huddle event, in association with our Supporters’ Committee, but conditions were perhaps the most challenging yet, as climbers suffered periods of intense heat with next to no shade during their ascent.

Despite this, each and every one of them made it to the top and spirits were high as they gathered together for the Huddle.

Having experienced snow in previous years, it was a rare sight for those returning climbers as they were welcomed with a clear, dry summit which soon became awash with green and white.

The group was supported throughout by the fantastic Abacus Mountain Guides, and after a gruelling descent, they were met by Celtic FC Foundation staff at the finish line, who were on hand to thank participants for their incredible efforts and present them with their well-earned certificates.

Each and every one of the climbers should be incredibly proud of their wonderful achievement.

The net proceeds of this event will further our initiatives within our key priority areas of Health, Equality, Learning and Poverty (HELP).
