2015 Paradise to Cardenden cycle takes place on September 5

CELTIC captain Scott Brown and goalkeeper Craig Gordon were on hand to lend their support for Celtic FC Foundation’s annual Paradise to Cardenden Cycle, which this year takes place on the 84th anniversary of the passing of legendary Celtic goalkeeper, John Thomson.

In association with our Supporters’ Committee, the cycle takes place on Saturday, September 5 and commemorates John Thomson – a Cardenden native – who tragically died in 1931 after suffering a head injury following an accidental collision in a match against Rangers at Ibrox.

Cyclists will start their 64-mile journey from Celtic Park in the morning before arriving in Cardenden, Fife – at the gravestone of John Thomson – in the afternoon.

Following arrival at the gravesite in Cardenden, participants will have the opportunity to pay their respects by laying a wreath at John Thomson’s resting place.

Places are limited and will be allocated on a first come, first served basis. The closing date to register is Friday, August 21, 2015. The non-refundable registration fee is £15 per person.

Please ensure you read the terms and conditions HERE and FAQs HERE thoroughly before registering.

All participants will be required to read and consent to our terms and conditions before participating.

Bike storage is available at Celtic Park on Friday, September 4 and there are a limited amount of spaces for minibus transport back to Glasgow following arrival in Cardenden.*

Celtic FC Foundation’s four priorities are to improve Health, promote Equality, encourage Learning and tackle Poverty. The net proceeds of this event will assist development of our work supporting routes out of poverty for local children and adults through programmes focusing on education and employability.
