Following a long 15-month wait, 112 brave fans were finally able to take part in the Zip Slide in Paradise, as Celtic FC Foundation welcomed supporters back on Saturday, for its first fundraising event at Celtic Park since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Originally scheduled for April 2020, the event was a tremendous success, with a magnificent net total in the region of £25K raised so far, with fundraising still ongoing.
The sun was shining on Paradise as participants played their part, sliding diagonally from East to West, leaving from the very top of the North East corner and gliding over the hallowed turf to the South West lower corner.
There was a wonderful atmosphere throughout the day as they were joined by a small number of family and friends, who cheered on from the South Stand, with many just delighted to be back at Celtic Park.
Funds raised from the event will support our ongoing work with disadvantaged and vulnerable children, young people and adults in our local communities.
Speaking of the event’s success, Celtic FC Foundation Chief Executive, Tony Hamilton, said: “We are absolutely thrilled to have welcomed fans back to Paradise on Saturday for the Zip Slide event.
“The participants have been phenomenal throughout and we must express our great thanks to each and every one of them for their patience, understanding and continued support. We would also like to pay tribute to all of the supporters who unfortunately could not make it along to the rescheduled date but have kindly made contributions in support of the event.
“Saturday marked a huge milestone for us, with the return of live fundraising events at Celtic Park and hopefully we can look forward to more in the not-too-distant future.
“A huge thank you to all of the staff at Celtic FC and our suppliers who have helped make the event possible and thanks also to our wonderful Foundation volunteers who helped out enormously on the day.”
