Still time to sign up and Walk On ‘In the Footsteps of Cesar’

As we look ahead to an exciting finale to the season – which will include Trophy Day on Saturday, May 27, followed by the Scottish Cup Final on Saturday, June 3 – Celtic FC Foundation are encouraging supporters to join us for further festivities. On holiday Monday, May 29 we pay tribute to the legendary Celtic Captain, Billy McNeill, with the brand new ‘In the Footsteps of Cesar’ event.

Delivered in partnership with the Billy McNeill Commemoration Charity, the initiative will see supporters take on a 10.1-mile sponsored walk from the Billy McNeill statue at the bottom of The Celtic Way to the newly erected statue of Cesar in his home town of Bellshill.

The Bellshill statue was officially unveiled on Saturday, November 26, 2022 and its creation was made possible thanks to the phenomenal efforts of the Billy McNeill Commemoration Committee, who raised in excess of £80,000 to commission the tribute to Celtic’s European Cup-winning Captain.

Celtic FC Foundation are proud to be partnering with the Billy McNeill Commemoration Charity for this exciting new initiative, offering supporters the chance to follow ‘In the Footsteps of Cesar’ and Walk On from Celtic Park to Bellshill.

Participants will receive an ‘In the Footsteps of Cesar’ t-shirt and snacks/refreshments will be provided during the event.

Registration is still open HERE and the cost to enter is £20 for those aged 16 and over, or £15 for those aged 10-15. Please ensure you read the Terms and Conditions before completing the process.

The minimum age to participate is 10 (as of the event date) and participants aged 10-15 must have written consent to participate and be accompanied by a parent/legal guardian/responsible adult, who must also take part in the event.

Following registration, all we ask is that you raise a minimum in sponsorship (£135 for those aged 16 and over and £67 for those aged 10-15).

Net proceeds will be shared equally between Celtic FC Foundation and the Billy McNeill Commemoration Charity, with the Foundation’s portion devoted to our dementia care projects.

Through our Lions’ Lunch Break projects, we strive to improve the quality of life for those living with dementia, as well as their carers.

Thank you for your wonderful support.
