In February 2019, an adventurous group of Celtic supporters scaled the world’s highest walkable mountain – Mount Kilimanjaro – in support of Celtic FC Foundation, raising an incredible total of £50K.
Following the wonderful success of the initiative, some members of the group – known as The Wanderbhoys – along with a batch of new recruits will now be taking on a fresh challenge in April 2023, as they aim to trek the Great Wall of China. The Foundation has, once again, been very generously selected as the beneficiary of their fundraising efforts and they are looking for supporters to join them for what promises to be a truly once-in-a-lifetime experience.
One of the Seven Wonders of the Modern World, the Great Wall of China is the longest man-made structure ever built at 21,196 kilometres long, offering a unique challenge which is physically demanding but also offers fabulous, never ending scenery and a fascinating insight into a rich culture and history.
The cost of the trip is £2,695 per person and each participant is also tasked with raising a minimum of £1,000, as a charitable contribution to Celtic FC Foundation.
The package includes:
- Return flights from the UK – departing Tuesday, April 11, 2023 and returning on Saturday, April 22, 2023
- Transfers when in China
- Hotel accommodation before and after the Trek at a 5-star hotel in central Beijing
- All food during the Trek
- Trek guides
- Opportunity to explore and sightsee in Beijing

The Wanderbhoys will once again be led by Scottish actor Frank Gilhooley, known for his roles in River City, Still Game and Outlander. To join ‘The Wanderbhoys – Great Wall of China Trek’ a deposit of £250 must be paid by Monday, September 12, 2022 with final balance due by Thursday, December 1, 2022.
