Glittering prize poster prints will support Football for Good Fund

IN celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Lisbon Lions’ historic European Cup triumph and to assist with our Lions’ Legacy campaign, renowned contemporary Scottish artist, Gerard Burns created a stunning, multi-layered painting, entitled ‘Glittering Prize’.

The image depicts the famous scene as the team walked out on to the park in Lisbon’s Estádio Nacional on May 25, 1967.

The original painting graces the Celtic Park Boardroom and supporters throughout the world now have the opportunity to cherish their own copy of Gerard’s incredible piece, with this 72cm x 48cm poster print edition. Net proceeds will be devoted to Celtic FC Foundation’s Football for Good Fund, which is providing food and essentials to those within our communities most affected by the COVID-19 crisis.

The prints are exclusively available to purchase via our official charity eBay account and there are two options:

– Glittering Prize Poster Print – available HERE
£19.67 (plus postage and packaging)

– Glittering Prize Poster Print , With Additional Donation – available HERE
£25.00 (plus postage and packaging)
In purchasing this option, you are very generously choosing to make an additional donation of £5.33 towards the Football for Good Fund, to provide approximately four meals for a vulnerable family, pensioner, refugee or someone who is homeless.

Through his work, Gerard Burns has become one of Scotland’s most respected artists. His client base continues to grow and includes world-renowned Scottish comedian, Billy Connolly, First Minister of Scotland, Nicola Sturgeon and our very own Celtic manager, Neil Lennon.

Gerard Burns said: “It has been of huge importance to me from the very start of the process that this painting should belong to the wider Celtic Family.

“Since the original was unveiled in 2017, a number of supporters from near and far have approached me looking to buy a copy. I am absolutely delighted we are now able to offer high quality reproductions of the painting and I hope the Celtic fans will embrace it. Celtic FC Foundation is a charity very close to my heart and I’m so proud that the monies raised will support the Football for Good Fund.”

Celtic FC Foundation Chief Executive, Tony Hamilton, said: “Gerard has been a fantastic supporter of Celtic FC Foundation for a number of years and his generosity has been truly extraordinary.

“At a time when most of our traditional fundraising activities have been put on hold, we are extremely grateful that Gerard has kindly offered this opportunity to raise invaluable funds towards our Football for Good Fund.

“I’d also like offer special thanks to Bell & Bain who support the Foundation on a regular basis and they have stepped up once again to provide complimentary printing on this occasion. We are delighted that supporters everywhere now have the opportunity to purchase their own copy of this stunning piece of art.”

Since the launch of the Fund and throughout the next six months or so, the Foundation has ensured and will continue to ensure food parcels, basic necessities, hot meals and other critical interventions are available to the growing number of people affected by the ruthlessness of COVID-19.

But we can’t do it alone.
