WELCOME to our new website. It’s been a long time in the making but we’ve finally nailed it. Its purpose is just to bring us closer – something we all could be doing with through these troubled times. Ironic really, when we’re constantly told to keep our (social) distance.
But in the cyber world we need to be close right now because there’s just so much chaos going on around all of us and every single one of us needs some sort of support.
This is a time for togetherness and that’s what we’ve tried to do in these past eight months when we set up our Football For Good Fund.
The thinking behind Football For Good is to help those people in our communities, our neighbours, and many nameless and faceless people that we don’t know, that are clinging on, hoping they’ll emerge unscathed on the other side.
Football For Good provides food and essentials (such as fuel) for many ordinary people who before March this year were leading normal, unassuming lives.
It’s likely that Football For Good will roll into our Annual Christmas Appeal and will remain our focus as we put 2020 behind us and head into a new year, and hopefully a new beginning.
You can read all about it here on our new site and we will ask you to help us if you can, yet we realise that not everyone will be in a position to do so. What we do here at Celtic FC Foundation is a credit to the Celtic support across the world, and we’re only able to do it because the strong social conscience that unites Celtic supporters has shone brightly since we first encountered this global pandemic.
Batten down the hatches for a long winter and we’ll spring out of this next year, I’m sure, as we get ready for what could be the most climactic end to a football season many of us will have encountered in our lifetimes.
Until then, stay safe and look out for each other.
Tony Hamilton, Chief Executive of Celtic FC Foundation
