Celtic Sleep Out, London

Follow in the footsteps of Brother Walfrid and help us make a difference to the most vulnerable in our community this Christmas

November 30, 2019

Following the success of our Celtic Sleep Out, London events in 2017 and 2018, the event will return for the third consecutive year and will take place on Saturday, November 30.

The event, which is an integral element of our Christmas Appeal, will take place once again in the grounds of St Anne’s Primary School in Whitechapel and the venue holds huge historical and emotional significance for the Celtic Family.

In 1892, five years after his leading role in the formation of Celtic Football Club, the Marist Order moved Brother Walfrid from Glasgow to the Whitechapel area of London’s East End. Over the next 15 years, as Head Teacher at St Anne’s Primary, Brother Walfrid transformed the school and also established local boys’ clubs and a project to provide meals to the poor in the local community.

In honour of our Founding Father, the London Sleep Out participants will spend the night – from 9.00pm to 5.00am – battling the elements outdoors, under the stars, all for a wonderful cause.

The introduction and briefing elements of the event will take place across the road, at St Anne’s Church, where Brother Walfrid lived during his time in London.

Places are limited and will be allocated on a first come, first served basis. The non-refundable registration fee is £30 per person. Please ensure you read the Terms and Conditions thoroughly before committing your agreement and signing up.

Should you have an outstanding sponsorship balance from a previous Celtic FC Foundation event, this must be settled in full prior to registering for this Event or your registration will be suspended pending full payment of the total due.

Due to anticipated severe weather conditions, this event will be exceptionally challenging, both mentally and physically. Therefore, participants must be aged 18+ and be in an appropriate physical condition to take part.

Celtic FC Foundation will provide a ground mat and foil sheet/blanket but participants are required to bring the appropriate equipment and wear relevant clothing and footwear.

Each participant is tasked with raising a minimum of £130 (after entry fee) and all funds raised will support our 2019 Christmas Appeal, which reflects the very essence of why our Club was set up back in 1887.

The Appeal will help families and pensioners who face poverty and hardship and a number of charities who care for those experiencing the torment of homelessness or other disadvantage.

So please follow in the footsteps of Brother Walfrid and help us make a difference to the most vulnerable in our community this Christmas. Thank you so much for your wonderful support!
