Celtic FC Foundation in Notre Dame
On the eve of Celtic’s final match of their US pre-season tour against Chelsea, Celtic FC Foundation hosted a fundraising event at the iconic Notre Dame Stadium in South Bend, Indiana last night (Friday, July 26), and it was a fantastic occasion for those in attendance.
Hosted by Celtic TV’s Gerry McCulloch, the evening included three Q&A sessions, a live auction, fabulous three-course meal with drinks, and live music from Liam McGrandles.
Following a vote of thanks from Foundation Chief Executive, Tony Hamilton, guests were joined by new Bhoy, Kasper Schmeichel, Greg Taylor and Daizen Maeda, who all shared their thoughts on the US tour and their aims for the season ahead.
Next up on stage was Celtic manager, Brendan Rodgers who gave guests some insight into his time at Celtic and his ambitions to develop and progress the Club in the future.
In the final Q&A segment of the evening, Gerry was joined on stage by Celtic legends, Roy Aitken and Stiliyan Petrov. Both talked warmly and fondly of their respective spells at the Club and their close connection with the magnificent Celtic support.
There then followed a live auction which contained six magnificent prizes, including the opportunity to travel with the official party to a UEFA Champions League away match during this season’s league phase, a premium hospitality package at Celtic Park with Boardroom access and seats in the Directors’ Box, and the opportunity to live the dream and play on the hallowed turf in Intelligent Car Leasing’s sponsor’s match towards the end of this season.
And, finally, Liam McGrandles rounded off the night in great musical style with a host of Celtic favourites.
Celtic FC Foundation CEO, Tony Hamilton said: “We have had a growing presence in the US over the past eight years and it was a great occasion for us to be able to continue that at Notre Dame.
“These past two weeks we’ve been able to support three charities who help people out of poverty in Washington DC, North Carolina and Indiana.
“That’s only possible because of the support we get – mainly in New York annually – but also through events like this in South Bend.
“A sincere thanks to the Chicago CSC and all individual supporters, supporters’ clubs, partners and colleagues across the football club who made this possible.
“Our aim is to continue to be able to work internationally in addition to the vital work that takes place in Glasgow, London and across Ireland.”
Celtic FC Foundation upholds and promotes the charitable principles and heritage of Celtic Football Club. As a registered charity in Scotland and with 501(c)(3) status in the US (Celtic FC Foundation Inc), we aim to challenge poverty and promote inclusion.
Funds raised last night will be devoted to the work of the Foundation in the US and also at home.
Thank you for your wonderful support.
