Newcastle Foodbank opened in March 2013 and is one of the busiest foodbanks in the UK, providing more than 18,000 food parcels annually.
They offer emergency food assistance to people in the west end of Newcastle; which is one of the most economically and socially deprived areas in the North East.
“Support from Celtic FC Foundation Christmas Appeal allows our Charity to do that bit extra for our service users during the Festive Season. Christmas can be a difficult time of year, especially for families struggling to make ends meet. Thanks to this award, we can ensure people have enough food to make the holiday period just that little bit brighter.”
“In previous years, support from Celtic FC Foundation has enabled our Charity to buy food which was distributed to approximately 5,000 people across the city. December is always a particularly difficult month, as household budgets are stretched even further. Thanks to the award we received from the Foundation, we were able to provide 1,900 food parcels to households already experiencing hardship.”
“Our Charity is grateful to Celtic FC Foundation and to the Celtic supporters for getting behind the Christmas Appeal. Their generosity makes a meaningful difference to the lives of so many people. It is a privilege to be part of the Celtic FC family, where the community spirit shown by the Club and its fans shines through by helping others at their time of need.” John McCorry, CEO, Newcastle Foodbank.
