On Saturday, June 28, Celtic FC Foundation returned to beautiful Ballycotton for the third consecutive year to host our Celts by the Sea event.
We were delighted to be joined in County Cork by supporters from across Ireland, along with celtic great, Chris Sutton. The event was once again a huge success, with fundraising efforts still ongoing.
The day began at The Salty Dog, Ballycotton, as participants were welcomed into the venue for registration ahead of the sponsored walk.
Fortunately, the weather cleared just in time for a group photo at the starting point of the stunning Ballycotton Cliff Walk and, as those taking part set off, the breathtaking sea views certainly didn’t disappoint.
The end point for the walk was at Sea Church – a beautiful restaurant and event space in Ballycotton– who very kindly supported the event for the third year running. Participants were welcomed for a buffet, before the venue then played host to a wonderful evening of entertainment.
Hosted by Ciarán Ó Raghallaigh, the night kicked off with a Foundation video piece before a vote of thanks and an emotional tribute to John Clark from Head of Foundation, Jane Maguire.
This was then followed by a fantastic Q&A session with Chris Sutton, as he entertained guests with memories of his playing career.
After an auction and prize draw, there was live music from Liam McGrandles, who played a host of Celtic favourites.
Net proceeds from the event will support Celtic FC Foundation project delivery in Ireland and a donation of €5K will also be made to Marymount University Hospital & Hospice in Cork.
Celtic FC Foundation would like to thank everyone who contributed to the Celts By the Sea duo of events and helped make the day and night such a great success, including our sponsor and host venue, Sea Church, Chris Sutton, the Association of Irish Celtic Supporters’ Clubs, Charlie Murray CSC, Cork No.1 CSC, Fr.
