Celtic FC Foundation Supporters Begin Their ‘Camino De Santiago Trek’ Challenge

It was an early start on Sunday morning for a group of 12 Celtic FC Foundation supporters  – which includes former Celts, Neil Lennon and Peter Grant, as well as a member of the Foundation team – as they embarked on an unforgettable journey, setting off for our first ever ‘Camino De Santiago Trek’ challenge.

Led by an experienced team leader and local guides, the group began the challenge at their starting point in Sarria. The first day on the famous trail saw the group trek through scenic villages, peaceful hamlets and along quiet country roads, while completing the first 22 kilometres to Portomarin. They were also treated to a very special blessing from a local priest on arrival.

Despite the group having only been togetherfor a short time, they have already formed a strong bond so far, sharing stories and of course exchanging their favourite Celtic memories.

Today, they are taking on the second part of their trek, which has already seen them cross the Rio Miño this morning in Portomarin, which is Galicia’s longest river. Along the way they will visit the Romanesque Church of Santa Maria in Castromaior, before descending to the village of Palas de Rei, ticking off another 24 kilometres, with three more days trekking still to come.

We thank each and every one of these wonderful supporters for their amazing dedication to Celtic FC Foundation and wish them all the very best for the remainder of what promises to be a truly once-in-a-lifetime experience.
