As we look ahead to our next next overseas challenge – ‘Celtic FC Foundation’s Camino Trek’ – which will take place from October 13 -20, 2024, we are delighted to confirm that we’ll be joined by former Celtic great, Peter Grant.
Peter, who spent 15 years at Celtic Park, is a great friend of the Foundation, having supported various events over the years. But now, he’s set to show his support once again, as he joins the rest of our Camino Trekkers for the challenge of a lifetime.
Peter follows in the footsteps of his former team-mates Tom Boyd and Simon Donnelly, who participated in the Sahara Trek earlier this year, while Tom also took part in our Arctic Trek back in 2023.
Speaking of the challenge ahead, Peter said: “The Camino De Santiago is such a well renowned pilgrimage, so I jumped at the chance to take on the challenge and offer my support to the Foundation.
“I know that a couple of other former players – Tom and Simon – have done the previous challenges and both have spoken about how brilliant it’s been to participate in these kind of initiatives, among fellow Celtic fans. So it was an honour to be invited along to this one and something I can’t wait to get into.
“I am actually really looking forward to taking on the 116 kilometre Trek. I do a lot of running to keep myself fit, so I should be ok and I’m sure that the group will keep each other going throughout.
“Doing this challenge in support of Celtic FC Foundation makes it even more special. This Club is all about helping those who need it, it’s why we were formed and the Foundation plays such a vital role in making sure that charity continues to be a big part of Celtic’s identity. The work they do is brilliant and hopefully I can help raise some extra funds, along with the rest of the group.”

This eight-day trip will see our adventurous group trek the final 116 kilometres of the famous Camino De Santiago pilgrimage route, over five days and there’s still time to join them.
They will trek across the green rolling landscapes of rural Galicia, discover local traditions and enjoy the unique atmosphere. Starting from Sarria, participants will take in charming villages, forests and rural countryside, while visiting many picturesque churches along the way.

The cost of the trip is £2,150 per person and this includes a non-refundable deposit of £300 which is required to confirm your place.
