With another convincing league title secured, Celtic captain Callum McGregor can now look forward to lifting the SPFL trophy for the second season-in-a-row, when the champions face Aberdeen in the climax to this year’s cinch Premiership.
Celtic FC Foundation are exceptionally proud and grateful to confirm that our captain has also very generously agreed to become a Foundation Ambassador.
Having got behind the work of the Foundation over many years, this new role will see Callum provide even greater support as he takes a leading role in promoting the work of the Foundation and supporting our fundraising efforts, further enhancing the strong connection between the club’s charitable arm and football department.
We are also thrilled to announce that our 2023 Celtic FC Foundation badge will pay tribute to Callum, a colossus in leading the team to secure more silverware this season.
This year’s unique badge will feature a new design concept that differs from previous Foundation badges and comes in the form of a Celtic shirt.
It features the hoops in green and silver, with the Foundation clover proudly placed at the bottom of the shirt, just below MCGREGOR 42, in homage to our title-winning Captain.
Our 2023 Badge Day, which has once again been organised in collaboration with our Supporters’ Committee, will take place in the lead up to Trophy Day at Celtic Park on Saturday, May 27 and Celtic FC Foundation volunteers will be situated around the ground ahead of the 12.30pm kick-off.
We are requesting a minimum donation of £2 per badge. Cash payments can be placed into one of our buckets and we will also offer a contactless payment option, through volunteer collectors based at key entry points around the stadium footprint.
And for those who are unable to attend the match, the badges are also available now via our eBay account HERE, with orders being dispatched during week commencing Monday, May 29, 2023.
Alternatively, they will be available post-match at the Celtic Superstore – by making a £2 donation in one of the Celtic FC Foundation boxes located at the tills.
Celtic captain, Callum McGregor said: “I am sure we will all enjoy a great day next week, as we can deservedly celebrate being champions once again.
“On that day it will be very humbling to be recognised in this way and of course I am delighted that through this initiative, our Foundation will continue to be supported.
“I have been associated with Celtic for many years now and throughout that time, the club’s charitable dimension has continued to show tremendous care for people in need, people and causes which are very deserving of our support.
“This work is at the heart of the club and makes such a positive difference to the lives of so many, so it’s a great privilege and honour to now also officially become a Foundation Ambassador and assist wherever possible.
“I, like everyone else at the club, would like to sincerely thank all our fans who continue to give such great support all year round to Celtic FC Foundation.”
Celtic FC Foundation Chief Executive, Tony Hamilton added: “Over the years Callum has offered tremendous support to the Foundation but it is fantastic that he is now officially on board as a Celtic FC Foundation Ambassador.
“He has been a wonderful leader for the club both on and off the park and is a key role model for supporters of all ages. We’re so grateful for his continued backing of everything we do at the Foundation”.
“We’re honoured to pay tribute to Callum’s achievements via our latest charity pin badge and I’m sure the Celtic support will get behind this year’s initiative, as they always do.”
