As we look ahead to tomorrow’s Celtic FC Foundation Sleep Out event in Donegal, we now turn our focus to the Irish charitable organisations that will benefit from the funds raised by our Sleep Out participants, as well as the generous donations made by the wider Celtic support.
Through the Appeal, we are aiming to assist a number of incredible beneficiary organisations who support families, pensioners, women and children in refuge, the homeless community and refugees – as well as a whole host of others facing poverty and hardship.
Monies raised through this Donegal event will provide support directly in Ireland and the organisations we are aiming to support this year include two long-standing Appeal beneficiaries – Women’s Aid Dublin and Women’s Aid Belfast & Lisburn – as well as two beneficiaries that will provide assistance directly in the county of Donegal – Annagry Saint Vincent De Paul and the Irish Red Cross Creeslough Community Support Fund.
Support received through the Christmas Appeal will allow both Women’s Aid beneficiaries to make Christmas a more peaceful and joyous time for a number of women and families who live or have lived with the traumatic effects of domestic abuse.

Donations will also assist Annagry Saint Vincent De Paul to provide food and fuel vouchers to those in need within the local community this Christmas, while a contribution will be made to the Creeslough Community Support Fund, to help those affected by the recent tragic events, over the festive period.
Celine O’Donnell of Annagry Saint Vincent De Paul spoke of the importance of any donation received, saying: “Christmas can be a hugely challenging time of year for many local individuals and families in our community.
“Over the festive period we’ll be aiming to help with food and fuel for those who find themselves in difficulty, allowing them to feel more comfortable and free from further worries and pressures at Christmas.
“We would like to extend a Cead Mile Failte agus buiochas (welcome and thank you) to everyone who is participating and supporting the Donegal Sleep Out event and to Celtic FC Foundation for their wonderful support. Your efforts and contribution will make a difference.”
Charles Lamson of the Irish Red Cross also spoke of the support via the Appeal, which follows an initial £10,000 donation made to assist of the families affected by the heartbreaking tragedy in October.
He said: “The support provided for the Creeslough Community Support Fund has been extraordinary and the Irish Red Cross has been working with local representatives to provide rapid support to those directly impacted by the tragedy. We wish to thank Celtic FC Foundation for their incredible support.”
