Supporters keep on running for Celtic FC Foundation

CELTIC FC Foundation were represented at Sunday’s Great Scottish Run by our Fab Fourteen!

Five supporters took part in the 10K, with a further nine setting off on the Half Marathon – all to raise vital funds for our work in local communities.

Both races kicked off in George Square in the centre of the city and runners faced the tough incline of St Vincent Street before heading off across the River Clyde and they passed iconic landmarks and buildings including the Hydro, the Finnieston Crane and Pacific Quay as they made their way toward the McLellan Arch and the finish line in Glasgow Green.

Our 10K participants had the earlier start between 9.45-10.00am and faced a very fresh Glasgow morning as the fog cleared. The Fantastic Five included Robert ‘four-in-a-row’ Doherty, John Burns, Monica Love, Sean Sweeney and Celtic FC’s Mark Henderson.

As the 10k group finished in style at Glasgow Green, our Half Marathon participants were welcomed to a colourful George Square bathed in glorious sunshine, before the first wave commenced at 11.30am.

The Nimble Nine included our Supporters’ Committee member Paul Brennan, Dr Harry Burns, Davie McLaughlin, Tommy Brown, Paul Maginnis, Joseph Micoud, Celtic FC Foundation staff Conor O’Boyle and Allan Campbell plus Matthew Traynor, who recently also completed a full marathon in aid of Celtic FC Foundation.

Glasgow Green was a welcome sight at the end of the tough 13-mile challenge and our nine runners proudly crossed the finish line to round off a remarkable day.

Celtic FC Foundation would like to thank all our participants for their effort, dedication and continued support. Collectively, they have already raised over £7,000 and all proceeds will support in work in local communities around key areas of Health, Equality, Learning and Poverty (HELP).
