CELTIC FC Foundation were represented at Sunday’s Great Scottish Run by a fabulous 40 participants. The group included a wonderful mix of regular and new supporters, coupled with Celtic FC Foundation staff and members of our Supporters’ Committee.
The first 20 supporters took part in the 10k, with a further 20 setting off on the Half Marathon – all to raise vital funds for our work in local communities.
Both races set off in George Square in the centre of the city and runners faced the tough incline of St Vincent Street before heading off across the River Clyde and passed iconic landmarks and buildings including the Hydro, the Finnieston Crane and Pacific Quay as they made their way toward the McLellan Arch and the finish line in Glasgow Green.
Our 10K participants had the earlier start between 9.45-10.00am and faced a very grey and wet morning in our beautiful city.
As the 10k group finished in style at Glasgow Green, our Half Marathon participants were welcomed to a sodden George Square and set off – just like their 10K comrades – with a Huddle before the first wave commenced at 11.30am.
Glasgow Green was a welcome sight at the end of the tough 13-mile challenge and our 20 runners proudly crossed the finish line to round off a remarkable day.
Celtic FC Foundation would like to thank all 40 of our participants for their effort, dedication and continued support. Fundraising is still ongoing but, collectively, they have already raised over £7,500 and all proceeds will support in work in local communities around key areas of Health, Equality, Learning and Poverty (HELP).
