A MAGNIFICENT group of around 80 supporters scaled the country’s highest mountain at the weekend and performed a Huddle at the summit….as Scotland attempted to retain a touch of the Arctic in the middle of June!
This was Celtic FC Foundation’s third charity climb of Ben Nevis and the team of fundraisers were joined by Celtic legend and former club captain, Tom Boyd and there was also a special appearance from Hoopy.
Each climber committed to raising a minimum of £125 to take part in the momentous event and Celtic FC Foundation are delighted to confirm that participants are well on the way to raising in excess of £15,000.
Celtic FC Foundation’s four priorities are to improve Health, promote Equality, encourage Learning and tackle Poverty. The net proceeds of this event will assist development of our work providing opportunities for local disadvantaged children and young people to take part in positive, healthy activities.
Spirits were high as the hardy supporters were waved off from the Glen Nevis Visitor Centre by the Celtic FC Foundation team.
It was an overcast day in Fort William and the group faced some exceptionally challenging conditions, particularly on the latter part of the climb. However, the team spirit shone through, epitomising the Celtic Family, and provided a welcome degree of warmth in the wintry surroundings.
The group was supported throughout by the fantastic Abacus Mountain Guides and Paramed staff and Celtic FC Foundation staff were on hand at the finish line to present certificates to participants and thank them for their wonderful efforts.
Each and every climber should be incredibly proud of themselves on such a magnificent achievement.
