CELTIC FC Foundation, the charitable arm of Celtic Football Club has made a £7,000 donation to fund this year’s Taxis Outing to Troon for hundreds of very deserving children.

The event, now in its 74th year is one of the city’s best known charitable occasions and Celtic has enjoyed a 21-year association, donating over £160,000 during this time.

Hoops legend, Tosh McKinlay was on hand to present the £7,000 cheque before the colourful convoy of black cabs departed from the West End of Glasgow today (Wednesday) and set off for Troon in Ayrshire once more where the children are set to enjoy a fun-packed day at the coast.

Celtic Chief Executive Peter Lawwell said: “We are absolutely delighted to continue our support of the outing to Troon for a 21st successive year. This is an outstanding annual occasion which brings so much joy to so many deserving children and their families.

“It is the result of such hard work and everyone involved should be praised for the effort they put into the outing.

“The taxi drivers should be applauded for their commitment to such a wonderful cause. The money Celtic has donated over so many years is very well spent and has meant thousands of children and their families receive much needed support.

“Celtic was formed in 1888 to help to help people in need and we are pleased that today, the objective of making a positive difference to the lives of others remains such an important part of our ethos. We hope everyone involved in this year’s event has a great day out.”
