David Edgar had a swagger – that many fellow Celtic fans shared – as he approached the stadium for last Saturday’s Glasgow derby.
But his was different.
Very different…
He had just completed the fourth stage of his cycle journey to every Celtic SPFL away match this season, fundraising on behalf of Celtic FC Foundation.
Due to opening fixtures, he’s completed a total of 48 miles so far.
“Yeah, it sounds easy peasy, but the next match is Aberdeen which I’ve calculated to be 170 miles and should take around 14 and a half hours!”
“It’s going to be a real test but I’m looking forward to the challenge. The reaction I’ve had at the matches has been fantastic. People notice my t-shirt and the bike and offer donations. It’s been a wonderful experience!”
“The Dundee fixture on Boxing Day means I’ll need to leave my family on Christmas Day and cycle overnight but, knowing I’m helping to contribute to Celtic FC Foundation, makes it all worthwhile.”
