TO commemorate the anniversary of Brother Walfrid’s passing, Celtic FC Foundation once again welcomed around 200 guests from the homeless and refugee community to Celtic Park on Tuesday for a lunch in the Kerrydale Suite.

Continuing the traditions of the club’s founding father, Celtic FC Foundation worked closely with 20 local charities and community organisations to help identify guests who would join us at Celtic Park for a hot meal. The lunch commenced with a few words of welcome from Foundation Chief Executive, Tony Hamilton, before guests then enjoyed a hot, two-course lunch.

The charities represented today included Alternatives, the Arch Project, the Elpis Centre, Glasgow Night Shelter, the James Shields Project, Loaves and Fishes, Lodging House Mission, North East Recovery Hub, Phoenix Futures, Salvation Army, Simon Community Scotland, Spirit Aid, Stopover Project, Turning Point Scotland, The Marie Trust, Refuweegee, Glasgow City Mission, The Big Issue Foundation, The Invisibles and the Wayside Club Centre. 

Following the lunch, over 40 guests were invited to take part in a tour of the Boardroom, the dressing room and the ultimate finale to any Celtic Park Tour, a trackside visit.

Celtic FC Foundation CEO, Tony Hamilton said: “This is the fourth consecutive year we have commemorated Brother Walfrid’s anniversary by hosting a community lunch here are Celtic Park. Many people who attended today from in and around our community, rely on the services of the charities and the organisations we work with. 

“As always, poverty is in the forefront of our minds on all the work we deliver and we will continue to to provide a hot meal to those in need at various times throughout the year and help wherever we can. 

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of those who turned up at Celtic Park today. The people, many of whom are volunteers, who run these other charities and organisations helped us to deliver another successful lunch, and we are very grateful to them for their cooperation.”
