MOUNT Kilimanjaro offers the opportunity to take on the challenge of a lifetime in scaling the world’s highest walkable mountain. Situated in North East Tanzania, Mount Kilimanjaro is a dormant volcano standing at 19,341 feet tall.
Lifelong Celtic supporter, Frank Gilhooley is organising a group trek of Kilimanjaro this coming February/March and has very generously nominated Celtic FC Foundation as beneficiary of the charitable funds raised.
Frank, who is a Scottish actor known for his roles in River City, Still Game and Outlander, will head up the adventurous Celtic contingent known as ‘The Wander Bhoys’. They will embark upon a 13-day journey, commencing on February 28, 2019 and participants must be aged 18 or over on this date.
Check out Frank’s video HERE.
The cost of the trip is £2,750 per person and Frank is also tasking each volunteer with raising a minimum of £1,000, as a charitable contribution to Celtic FC Foundation.
The package includes:
- Return flights from central Scotland, departing Thursday, February 28 and returning on Tuesday, March 12.
- Transfers when in Africa
- Hotel accommodation
- All food during the trek
- Mountain guides
- Doctors
- A celebratory party after completion of the trek
- A two-day safari experience
The cost of the trip can be covered by each individual or alternatively, ‘The Wander Bhoys’ would encourage businesses and supporters’ clubs to consider sponsoring representatives to take part.
Speaking ahead of the adventure, Frank said: “I’ve always felt blessed working as an actor on some incredible projects, meeting so many wonderful people, but having been part of the Celtic family all my life, to now embark on a fantastic challenge such as Kilimanjaro, raising funds for Celtic FC Foundation is something I consider a true honour.
“I hope I can inspire more and more people to join us on this life-changing event and together we can make a difference and proudly represent the wider Celtic family.”
To join ‘The Wander Bhoys – Kilimanjaro Challenge’ a deposit of £200 should be paid by Sunday, September 30 with final balance due by Thursday, November 1.
