Volunteers hit the heights for Celtic FC Foundation’s Abseil

CELTIC FC Foundation’s ‘Abseil in Paradise’ event took place at Celtic Park on Holiday Monday, May 1.

Around 50 brave participants took the plunge and abseiled from the lofty heights of the roof of the North Stand, a distance of approximately 120 feet, looking on to the hallowed turf below.

Definitely not one for the feint-hearted, it was a terrifying prospect for many of the hardy crew but they overcame their fears to conquer the challenge and raise invaluable funds for Celtic FC Foundation.

The club was represented by Tours Manager, Maura McColgan who made the leap and she was joined by fellow supporters from across Glasgow, Lanarkshire, Renfrewshire, West Lothian, West Dunbartonshire, Ayrshire, Stirling, Fife and Northumberland.

The friends and family members who gave up their time to turn up and support our participants added a wonderful dimension to the day as they created a fantastic atmosphere which was fitting of our founding principles.

Special thanks must go to our volunteers – including Davie McLaughlin who is surely due a season ticket for Foundation events – who gave up their time on a holiday weekend to support Celtic FC Foundation and all those taking part.

Celtic FC Foundation strive to honour the charitable principles and heritage of Celtic Football Club. Through a series of key projects, we aim to respond to the needs of disadvantaged children, young people and adults in our local community to improve Health, promote Equality, encourage Learning and tackle Poverty.

Proceeds from the Abseil in Paradise event will be devoted to our Inspiring Sport project which aims to positively and significantly impact the lives of those with a high level of support needs, focusing heavily on those with the most acute disabilities.

Delivered in partnership with Scottish Disability Sport, Inspiring Sport provides physical activity in sport for young people with severe and complex disabilities and also, working closely with all Scottish Disability Sport branches across Scotland, offers a series of pan disability events and programmes with a focus on serious impairments.

Your support will make a genuine difference to the lives of our Inspiring Sport participants.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
