THERE’S still time to bid in Celtic FC Foundation’s Famine Memorial Shirt Auction, which closes at around 7pm tomorrow, Saturday, September 17.

In recognition of the Great Hunger, Celtic wore the National Famine Memorial Day logo on the shirt when they took to the field last weekend at Celtic Park in the 5-1 derby win.

Over one million people died in the tragedy between 1846 and 1850 and many more suffered in the most horrendous circumstances. This year’s annual commemoration of the Famine took place on Sunday, September 11 at Glasnevin Cemetery in Dublin.

Seven of these match issue shirts – signed by each player – are now being auctioned, providing supporters with the opportunity to own a wonderful collectors’ item.

Funds raised will help support the work of Celtic FC Foundation as we strive to honour the charitable principles and heritage of Celtic Football Club.

We aim to respond to the needs of disadvantaged children, young people and adults in our local communities to improve Health, promote Equality, encourage Learning and tackle Poverty.
