Tom Boyd delighted to return to Celtic FC Foundation’s Golf Day

WITH Celtic FC Foundation’s annual Golf Day just a few short weeks away, we are delighted to announce that Hoops legend, Tom Boyd, will be returning to captain the team of ex-Celts.

The event will take place at Renfrew Golf Club on Thursday, June 23 and this year’s beneficiary is our award-winning Ability Counts project, which started out as a way to engage children living with Down’s Syndrome. Now, as well as continuing the vital Down’s Syndrome work, it also comprises project delivery in autism and/or complex physical disabilities.

The cost to enter a team of four is £400 (£100 per player) and availability is now limited.

Following last year’s sold-out event, the former club captain and current Ambassador will be looking for better fortune on the fairways as the team of ex-Celts lost out on the Foundation’s prestigious Golf Day trophy.

Speaking about the event, Tom said: “I’m delighted to be returning once more to the Foundation’s Golf Day at Renfrew.

“It was a great occasion last time around and it’ll be good to get out on the course again.”

Given that the team of former Hoops stars came up short last year, the 2000/01 treble-winning captain will be looking to make amends.

Tom joked: “I’ve no idea what happened last time, I think one or two in my team were guilty of letting the side down – I won’t say who! This year, make no mistake, we will be out to win.

“In all honesty though, it’s a tremendous cause and a guaranteed good time. The work of the Foundation is hugely important, and the Ability Counts project makes a difference to the lives of so many children and families.“
