RYDER Cup winner and European tour golf pro, Stephen Gallacher was at Paradise recently to lend his support to Celtic FC Foundation’s inaugural Golf Day.
The event will be steered by our Supporters’ Committee with proceeds going towards an exciting new project for children and young people with autism.
This reflects our growing commitment to equality as autism is added to our body of work which currently includes our award-winning ‘Ability Counts’, a project for children and young people with Down’s syndrome.
Celtic FC Foundation’s Golf Day will take place at Renfrew Golf Club on Thursday, April 2. Beginning with a mid-morning tee off, the format of the tournament will feature a shotgun start with 21 teams of four playing with a Texas Scramble scoring system.
Among the teams, there will be a specially selected line-up of former Celts aiming to take the inaugural Celtic FC Foundation Golf Day trophy.
After the tournament has concluded, participants will sit down to a tremendous carvery lunch followed by announcement of winners, auction, raffle and entertainment.
Speaking about Celtic FC Foundation’s Golf Day, Stephen Gallacher said: “It’s for a great cause. I’m going to hand in some gifts and put up a few prizes for the guys involved.
“It’s a great golf course, Renfrew. I played there a lot as an amateur, it’s a quality course.”
Scotland’s top golfer, despite being busy with his own career, is also an avid supporter of all things Celtic and explained how he feeds his passion while he’s on tour:
“Like everyone else, we watch Celtic TV and keep up to date with the website. Once you’re a Celtic fan, that’s you.
“Former Ryder Cup Captain, Paul McGinley, is also a big Celtic fan and I watch a lot of games with him.”
Celtic FC Foundation CEO, Tony Hamilton added: “We are extremely grateful for Stephen Gallacher’s wonderful support of Celtic FC Foundation’s inaugural Golf Day.
“This event promises to be a highlight in our fundraising calendar and to have the endorsement of a leading European tour pro is absolutely tremendous.”
The cost to enter a team of four is £400 and availability is now limited.
Participants also have the opportunity to invite friends and partners for the afternoon lunch and entertainment at a cost of £40 per place.*
