+Sport Move and Learn project gets a motivational visit

Season 2017/18 has seen the delivery of our fourth +Sport Move and Learn project in partnership with the SPFL Trust.

The project focuses on improving the health and wellbeing of local school children and is delivered in 30 schools across Glasgow over a six-week period by experienced Celtic FC Foundation coaches. Each session features interactive classroom-based educational workshops with physical activity delivered in the gym hall or outdoors.

The project encourages young people to engage in various sporting activities as well as educating participants on the importance of a healthy and active lifestyle.

To help reiterate this message, the pupils of St Benedict’s Primary School had a special visit from Celtic Women’s and Scotland International Goalkeeper, Megan Cunningham, and Celtic Women’s Football and Girls Academy Manager, David Haley.

A lively Q & A session saw Megan and David offer advice on how to live a healthy life and pursue a career in sports. Throughout, young people received valuable insights for competing at the highest level of the Women’s game, gaining a crucial understanding of the importance of healthy habits at a young age.

This visit closed delivery for the 2017/18 season, and to date, the project has now engaged over 7,200 young people in schools across the city while successfully delivering strong outcomes in healthy and wellbeing.
