Follow The Celtic Way with Celtic FC Foundation’s Christmas Appeal

CELTIC FC Foundation, the charitable arm of the football club, is delighted to launch its 2015 Christmas Appeal to honour our founding principles and help those in our community who are most in need.

The Club has kicked off the Appeal with a fantastic £10,000 donation as we aim to help a range of causes and make a positive difference to the lives of people in need.

We want to help around 200 local families provide a happy Christmas for their children – with a meal on the table and gifts for the kids.

This is an appeal which we have conducted for a number of years and through the Appeal, we also aim to support local charities who care for those experiencing homelessness or other disadvantage.

The generosity and compassion of the Celtic Family is unsurpassed, and Celtic FC Foundation is requesting the support of Celtic fans once again for an Appeal which epitomises the very essence of our Club and truly honours the founding principles of Brother Walfrid.

As ever, the Celtic first-team will be playing its part in this appeal and as well as encouraging donations, Celtic FC Foundation will also be hosting two fundraising events as part of the Appeal, including a Celtic Sleep Out at Celtic Park and Ghirls for Good, a fantastic lunch event at Paradise.

Celtic Chief Executive Peter Lawwell said: “The Club is delighted to kick-off this year’s charity appeal with another significant donation, and as in previous years we will aim to do all we can to provide support and care this Christmas for people who are in need.

“Celtic’s origins ensure we are a Club like no other and I am proud that today almost 130 years after the club’s formation, we continue to honour our charitable beginnings.

“Those organisations and individuals we help are extremely deserving of our support and we hope as many people as possible connected to the Club will join us in this year’s appeal and in delivering this important work.”

Celtic FC Foundation CEO Tony Hamilton, added: “Poverty and hardship are year-round for many people and heightened even further around the Christmas period.

“Our Christmas Appeal in previous years has helped alleviate that for hundreds of families and I’m hoping we can do so again in 2015.

“It’s also important that we strive to have a positive impact on those experiencing homelessness or other disadvantage this Christmas.

“Our Appeals in previous years have received phenomenal support from everyone connected with the football club and the charitable arm and I have every faith that this year will be no different. I would like to thank everyone in advance for their outstanding generosity.

“I hope that, together, we can follow the Celtic Way this Christmas and convey a message of hope and unity to those who need our support.”
