IN association with our Supporters’ Committee, Celtic FC Foundation are delighted to announce details of our upcoming inaugural Golf Day at Renfrew Golf Club on Thursday, April 2.
It will be steered by our Supporters’ Committee with proceeds going towards a programme which will assist children and young people with autism.
This reflects Celtic FC Foundation’s growing commitment to the disability sector as autism is added to our body of work which currently includes initiatives around Down’s Syndrome as well as physical disabilities.
The plan is to design a programme based on our award-winning Down’s Syndrome initiative ‘Ability Counts’ and the recently announced ‘Inspiring Sport’ for children and young people with physical disabilities.
Beginning with a mid-morning tee off, the format of the golf tournament will consist of a shotgun start with 21 teams of four players playing with a Texas Scramble scoring system.
Among the 21 teams, there will be a specially selected team of former Celts aiming to take the inaugural Celtic FC Foundation Golf Day trophy.
Following the tournament, the afternoon activities will boast a sumptuous carvery lunch as well as entertainment, raffle prizes and a charity auction.
There will also be an awards presentation for the inaugural winners of Celtic FC Foundation’s Golf Day as well as cash prizes for nearest the pin and longest drive competitions.
The Golf Day also offers the chance to win a tremendous £5,000 hole-in-one prize as well as a host of other great prizes at holes across the course.
The cost to enter a team of four is £400 with participants also having the opportunity to invite friends and partners for the afternoon lunch and entertainment at a cost of £40 per place.*
Chairman of Celtic FC Foundation Supporters’ Committee, Mark Cameron said: “The Supporters’ Committee are delighted to be involved in the organisation of this inaugural golf event.
“It’s something which we have been working on for some time and we are now looking forward to supporting the delivery of the event in early April.
“We feel that this event will capture the imagination of those supporters who are also keen golfers and the four-ball format will ensure that there will be a friendly but competitive edge to the day.
“It will also allow those who take part in the Golf Day to support the great projects which Celtic FC Foundation will deliver this year.”
Celtic FC Foundation CEO, Tony Hamilton added: “This will be our first ever golf event and already there’s huge interest in it. I’m sure it will be a great day but the main aim is to allow us to be able to add value to some of the many children and young people who live with autism.”
