Celtic FC Foundation’s 2016 Golf Day

IN association with our Supporters’ Committee, Celtic FC Foundation are delighted to announce details of the 2016 annual Golf Day at Renfrew Golf Club on Thursday, June 23.

Given the huge success of the Foundation’s sold-out 2015 event, demand is expected to be high and golfers are encouraged to book early to avoid disappointment.

The 2016 beneficiary will be Celtic FC Foundation’s award-winning Ability Counts project. Developed in 2010, the immensely popular project is aimed at helping children and young people with Down’s Syndrome by giving them an opportunity to develop motor skills, ball skills, team-working and to play football and dance, all within a fun but challenging environment.

Celtic FC Foundation’s 2016 Golf Day will begin with breakfast rolls and registration. There will be a mid-morning tee off and the tournament format will consist of a shotgun start with 21 teams of four players playing with a Texas Scramble scoring system.

The Golf Day also offers the chance to win a tremendous £5,000 hole-in-one opportunity as well as a host of other great prizes at holes across the course.

Among the 21 teams, there will be a specially selected group of former Celts (TBA) aiming to take the prestigious Celtic FC Foundation Golf Day trophy.

After players have handed in their cards and had a chance to freshen up, there will be a fantastic sit down meal followed by the presentation of awards for the winning team. The day’s activities will be rounded off with a charity raffle and auction as well as entertainment.

The cost to enter a team of four is £400 with participants also having the opportunity to invite friends and partners for the afternoon lunch and entertainment at a cost of £40 per place.

Speaking about the event, Celtic FC Foundation CEO, Tony Hamilton said: “Earlier this year, our inaugural Golf Day proved to be an enormously enjoyable event and I’m delighted that we are returning to the wonderfully accommodating and friendly surroundings of Renfrew Golf Club.

“I’d also like to thank Celtic FC Foundation’s Supporters’ Committee for their continued involvement in the planning and delivery of this event. With the support of the Celtic family, we can replicate the success of 2015 and contribute further to our acclaimed Ability Counts project.”
