Bhoy on the road set for one more cycle

WITH just one away league fixture remaining this season, Hoops fan David Edgar is looking forward to the trip to Tynecastle on May 6 even more than most. This will mark the final journey of his season-long effort to cycle to every single one of Celtic’s away league matches, while raising funds for Celtic FC Foundation in the process.

After a gruelling season which has seen David clock up a staggering tally of over 1,000 miles on his bike, he was recently invited as a guest of club sponsor, Dafabet, to watch the first team train at Lennoxtown.

David said: “It was absolutely brilliant, getting to watch training and meet the players and the manager was a dream come true. Thanks so much to Dafabet, Celtic FC and Celtic FC Foundation for such a wonderful opportunity.”

The season has provided a number of highlights for David but October’s trip to Pittodrie has been his personal favourite.

He said: “The first cycle up to Aberdeen has been my favourite this season for a number of reasons. Due to the way the fixtures fell, that game was the first real long-distance cycle I had to do but the weather was actually pretty good, so it made it a really enjoyable journey. Celtic were excellent that night too, so that just capped it off perfectly.”

David is closing in on his fundraising target of £5,000 and looks forward to giving it one final push as we approach the climax of another wonderful season.

He was keen to highlight the incredible support which he has received throughout the course of the challenge.

He added: “It’s been a fantastic experience cycling to all the away league matches this season. The main reason for it being such a memorable experience has been due to the kindness and generosity of the Celtic supporters.

“From people saying hello at the matches, offering encouraging words on Twitter and parting with their hard-earned cash to support the great work carried out by Celtic FC Foundation, it’s been incredible. I can’t thank everyone enough for the support.”
