As we look ahead to Celtic FC Foundation’s Walk On Weekend, which will take place on Saturday, June 5 and Sunday, June 6, we’re encouraging supporters to get involved and take on a distance of their choice, no matter where they are in the world.
Among those taking part are members of Celtic Supporters’ Clubs in both New York and Philadelphia, as the Manhattan No.1 CSC and Philly’s 2nd Street Plough Bhoys CSC gear up to Walk On in support of Celtic FC Foundation’s Football for Good Fund (FFGF).
Speaking ahead of the Walk On Weekend, Robert Parker of the Manhattan No.1 CSC and Séamus Cummins of the 2nd Street Plough Bhoys CSC both emphasised how important supporting Celtic FC Foundation is to each of their respective clubs.
Robert said: “We’ve been associated with Celtic FC Foundation for a few years now and we recognise that the Foundation are well-placed to ensure the CSC contributions are well spent and are able to effectively deliver projects that align with our values. A great example of this was seen when the Foundation presented a $25,000 cheque to Coalition for the Homeless thanks to funds raised in New York, including supporters clubs’ contributions.
“Unfortunately, our fundraising activity and the ability to get together has been curtailed over these past 14 months due to the impact of the pandemic but, with restrictions beginning to ease, the Walk On Weekend seemed like a great opportunity to pull on the Hoops, spend some time walking through the streets of New York and do our bit in support of Celtic FC Foundation’s Football for Good Fund.”
Seamus added: “Our CSC believes that Celtic FC Foundation plays a hugely important role in continuing Celtic’s charitable heritage and we, therefore, have endeavored to help raise funds wherever possible, to help the Foundation support those most in need.
“We have participated in a number of Foundation fundraising events over the years, including the Walk On New York event in 2019 and when the opportunity to participate in the Walk On Weekend came up, we wanted to play our part again this year from Philadelphia.”
During the Walk On Weekend, we’re encouraging those who can do so, to take in a Celtic-related site and we’d love for you to tag us on social media with your photos.
The Manhattan No.1 CSC’s Walk On efforts will see them visit the Yankee Stadium and Father Duffy Square in Midtown Manhattan, among other stops on the way, while the Plough Bhoys CSC’s Walk On efforts will take in Independence Hall and the famous “Rocky” Steps at the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Both CSCs will also pay tribute to those who lost their lives during Ireland’s Great Hunger, by visiting the Irish Hunger Memorials in each of their cities.
There’s still plenty of time for individuals or supporters’ clubs to join in and it couldn’t be easier to take part. Registration is open HERE and the non-refundable entry fee is £5. Please ensure you read the TERMS AND CONDITIONS thoroughly, before registering.
Participants must be 13 years of age or over on Saturday, June 5, 2021, in order to take part and participants aged under 18 years must have consent/approval from their parent or legal guardian.
Upon registration, you will receive your sponsorship pack including a sponsor form and details on how to set up your online fundraising page. Participants will also receive a Walk On Weekend keepsake.
All we ask is that you commit to raising a minimum of £50 (after entry fee) in support of Celtic FC Foundation’s Football for Good Fund (FFGF), which is continuing to provide urgent assistance to those most affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Participants will also be in with a chance of winning a fantastic 2020/21 Celtic home shirt, signed by members of the first team squad, which has been kindly donated by Club sponsor, Dafabet. Everyone who registers to take part and raises the minimum fundraising target will be entered into a prize draw, with the winner to be announced following the Walk On Weekend.
Thank you for your wonderful support.
