Edward Reid set to host Foundation’s Ghirls For Good event for a fifth time

With Celtic FC Foundation’s Ghirls for Good event now just over three weeks away, we heard from the event’s very own ‘host with the most’, the inimitable Edward Reid – who will take the reins and provide live entertainment and hosting duties for a fabulous fifth time.

Edward shot to fame after appearing on Britain’s Got Talent, with his own unique performance of a host of nursery rhymes. He has worked in theatre, radio and is also a qualified meditation teacher specialising in mindfulness.

With the event missing from the calendar in 2020 due to COVID-19 restrictions, Edward is eagerly anticipating one of the most fun nights of the year.

He said: “It’s great to be part of this event which helps so many of the people of Glasgow and beyond. I think such a glamorous event allowing the Ghirls to get dressed up and come out for a fabulous Christmas night is in itself amazing but the fact that they each bring a present for a deserving child is such a nice touch and is very much in the spirit of the true meaning of Christmas.”

At past Ghirls for Good events, Edward has heard first-hand just how vital the support provided through the Foundation’s Christmas Appeal can be.

He added: “It is heartbreaking to hear of the poverty on our doorstep but then when you hear of the work that the Foundation team are able to do thanks to events like this one, it’s so uplifting.”

Speaking of what our guests can expect this year, Edward said: “We have had some fantastic games over the years such as the keepy-uppy challenge and we’ll definitely have some fun activities for the ladies on November 26. I always sing either ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’ or ‘Grace’ but maybe this year I might even sing both, after missing out last year.

“There’s going to be lots of fun with great prizes, wonderful food and plenty of good tunes. And as I said, the Christmas spirit really kicks in too because it is, of course, all for a fantastic cause.”

Our Ghirls for Good festive extravaganza will take place in the Kerrydale Suite at Celtic Park on Friday, November 26 and kick-off time is 7 for 7.30pm.

Making it four-in-a-row, the event is once again being sponsored by the Ellen Kane Trust.

The evening of festive fun will also include:

  • Professional photo on arrival
  • Complimentary drink on arrival
  • Delicious festive meal
  • Close-up magic from the award-winning Mark Gordon
  • DJ
  • Fly High NY Draw, courtesy of the Ellen Kane Trust
  • Free Prize Draw
  • Celtic Santa

The cost for a table of 10 is £500 or places can be purchased on an individual basis at £50pp but don’t delay as availability is already limited.

To make a reservation, please call 0141 551 4321 or email [email protected]

We will also ask each guest to bring along a gift for a local child who is sick or disadvantaged and these will be distributed before the sleigh bells ring on Christmas Eve.

The phenomenal prize for our ‘Fly High NY’ Draw – a trip to the Big Apple for two people – has been very generously donated by event sponsor, the Ellen Kane Trust.

With an entry fee of only £10, our guests on the night can enter as many times as they like and one very lucky individual will go home with a pretty magnificent Christmas present!

All funds raised through Ghirls for Good will support the Christmas Appeal phase of our Football for Good Fund, which is due to be officially launched on Saturday.

Through the Appeal we want to give hundreds of families in our communities the Christmas they deserve, making sure there’s food on the table and gifts under the tree. We also wish to help pensioners, women and children in refuge, the homeless community and refugees – as well as a whole host of others facing poverty and hardship.

We are a Club like no other, and together, we can brighten many lives this December.

Thank you for your magnificent support.
