WITH Celtic FC Foundation’s third annual Golf Day fast approaching, we’re delighted to announce the fantastic team of ex-Celts who will compete in the tournament this year.
Following a busy period of 50thanniversary celebrations, Lisbon Lions Bertie Auld and Willie Wallace are looking forward to pitting their wits against supporters at Renfrew Golf Course on June 16, while supporting the work of Celtic FC Foundation.
Completing the team will be Foundation Golf Day veteran, George McCluskey, who will return following his appearance in 2015, and tournament new Bhoy, Frank McAvennie. Both of whom are delighted to be taking part, as Celtic FC Foundation’s Golf Day once again raises funds for our award-winning Ability Counts project.
Operating since 2011, this immensely popular project is aimed at helping children and young people who may ordinarily be excluded from mainstream activities and need to be given a chance. The project offers children and young people with Down’s Syndrome the opportunity to develop motor skills and team-working skills, through weekly sessions such as football and dance.
Ability Counts also offers weekly activities for children and young people with Autism, which aim to develop communication, coordination, self-confidence and social skills through sessions such as football, multi-sports, fun games, soft play and swimming. In addition, we’ve just introduced a brand new pilot project aimed at individuals with additional support needs, aged 18+.
There are only two team spaces still available at a cost of £400 per team of four, which includes breakfast rolls, a round of golf, three-course meal and a fantastic Q&A with the ex-Celts.
