Heriot-Watt and Edinburgh Universities CSC complete their ‘Stagger to Paradise’ Challenge

Celtic FC Foundation would like to congratulate all of the incredible supporters from the Heriot-Watt and Edinburgh Universities CSC who completed their ‘Stagger to Paradise’ over the weekend!

This was the second time the CSC has held such a fundraiser, having previously done the same walk back in September 2010, when they coincidently also arrived at the stadium before a match against Hearts, with the Hoops 3-0 victors on that occasion.

The group of twenty left from Dropkick Murphys in central Edinburgh on Friday morning to begin their challenge of walking to Paradise in time for Saturday’s 3pm William Hill Premiership kick-off.

Spanning a total of 47 miles, the route was divided into two legs comprising of a challenging 33.5 miles to Newhouse on the first day, followed by a more manageable 13.5 miles to Celtic Park on Saturday. Along the way they honoured two Celtic legends, by passing Cesar’s statue in Bellshill and then the Jimmy Johnstone Memorial Garden in Viewpark, giving them some vital breaks and a chance to reflect on the Club’s memorable night in Lisbon.

The group’s journey was not yet complete, as they were warmly welcomed into the stadium to the applause of the Celtic Family, who acknowledged their remarkable achievements over the previous two days.

This year’s event was part of the club’s 40th anniversary celebrations, having already held their infamous ‘Tommy Burns Supper’ earlier this year in March, which saw a wonderful total in excess of £11K raised for charitable causes, including the Foundation.

We are extremely grateful to everyone from the Heriot-Watt and Edinburgh Universities CSC for their magnificent support. If you would like to get behind the group’s efforts, you can still make a donation HERE.

Or, if you would like to get involved and fundraise on behalf of Celtic FC Foundation by setting your own personal challenge, please contact [email protected] or call 0141 551 4321.

A massive thank you once again goes to everyone from the Heriot-Watt and Edinburgh Universities CSC:
